2026 WOMEN IN COMMAND Nov 16, 2026 08:00am CT - Nov 17, 2026 05:00pm CT - Savage, MN Being a female leader in a male dominated profession has its own distinct sets of challenges and today’s climate has created more unique obstacles than ever before. Both our 2-Day In-Person and 6-Hour Live, Interactive Online programs will focus on assisting women in becoming more effective leaders focused on relationships, organization and community. Female leaders have unique ideas, insight and solutions. We will examine these qualities and offer tools to assist Current and Future Women in Command in implementing effective skills to inspire and motivate their staff with a focus on maintaining a professional, positive and inspiring climate. Designed to help leaders maintain a professional, positive and inspiring climate, this program will offer examples of the traits and skill sets of proven, successful leaders and accomplished agencies. During both of these delivery methods, our team of executive level female instructors will engage in lively discussions in an open forum populated by current and future women law enforcement leaders. 2026 FEMALE ARREST AND CONTROL TACTICS Oct 26, 2026 08:00am CT - Oct 27 2026 04:00pm CT - Rochester, MN The Women’s Defensive Tactics course teaches officers proven skills for overcoming size and strength differences using simple, effective, and easy-to-learn techniques. This is a 2-day course approved for 14 Minnesota POST credits. The training is specifically tailored for female and smaller-statured officers, though officers of all sizes and skill levels will benefit. Participants will learn to apply fundamental principles such as leverage, body positioning, and timing to gain control of resistant or assaultive suspects. The foundation of the course is built on empty-hand control techniques while integrating a full spectrum of force options. The principles are not only effective and easy to retain but also complement tactics officers may already be using. An attack cannot always be avoided, so officers cannot rely solely on situational awareness or unrealistic techniques. This course provides practical skills designed for real-world encounters. ________________________________________ Course Objectives •Enhance subject compliance through verbal de-escalation and soft empty-hand techniques •React effectively to assaultive subjects in close quarters •Develop skills in handcuffing and controlling resistant subjects •Perform single-officer and multiple-officer takedowns on resistant subjects

2026 FEMALE RIFLE SKILL

Sep 23, 2026 08:00am CT - Sep 24, 2026 05:00pm CT - Saint Paul, MN

This 2-day course is designed for the female officer to refine and build patrol rifle skills in an environment that is open and encouraging. It will cover the fundamentals of using a patrol rifle such as loading, unloading, manipulation of the fire controls, three types of reloads, malfunction clearance techniques, transition from rifle to handgun, sighting considerations, positional shooting, ballistics, rifle set-up and related equipment selection.

Events that MAWP hosts are part of our mission. To build relationships, network and find your tribe. We encourage if you are looking for mentorship and peer support to attend one of the events. We do a range of activities from attending sporting events, paint parties, physical activity, firearm practice and more! Our members go on to have lots of social events outside of MAWP as well!
